How to Connect Lime Plant Shoots
Besides being used to complement kitchen needs such as cooking ingredients that can improve the taste and quality of cooking, it turns out that this fruit has many benefits that we can use in our daily life, be it health, beauty, and household needs.  In addition, lime also has a high vitamin C content, making it superior to other types of oranges.
 In cultivating this lime plant, the fruiting period of the plant is the most awaited thing, therefore use lime seedlings from vegetative seedlings such as grafting or grafting so that it bears fruit more quickly.
 What are shoot grafts, and how are they made?  The following is a complete review of how to connect lime plant shoots.
 Grafting is a method of artificial vegetative propagation that has long been known and used by the wider community to improve plant characteristics, both quality-related and quantity-related.
 In principle, grafting is the joining of two living plant parts in such a way that they can be joined to form one complete plant which has the characteristics of a combination of the two organs or tissues that are combined.
 The two parts of the plant that are held together are generally rootstock and scion.
 This shoot connection can also be applied to lime plants which is of course to improve the quality, for example, the quality of the lime can be improved by attaching quality lime root to the rootstock of the lime.
 Here are the steps for how to connect lime shoots:
In making lime seedlings through grafting, there are two important parts that must be prepared at the same time, the first part is the rootstock which is responsible for the root system and the second is the upper stem which is obtained from the parent tree to be connected to the rootstock.

 * PREPARATION OF TOOLS AND MATERIALS
 Grafting knife, cutter, razor blade, or any knife as long as it is sharp and sterile PE 02 plastic or popsicle stick to tie the joints Lower rod and upper stem

 * PREPARATION OF DOWN RODS
 The rootstock used for grafting are lime plant seeds from seedbeds that are approximately 6 months old, or the stem diameter is as big as a pencil. The seeds are usually planted in polybags.  Choose seeds that are healthy, have good growth, stems upright and sturdy.

 * PREPARATION OF THE RODS / ENTRES
 - The mother tree for which the scion will be taken must come from superior varieties, high productivity, healthy and free from pests and diseases.
 - Take the scion from the main lime tree in the form of branches that are not growing (no young leaves / dormant branches), buds have started to appear which will later become new shoots, cut the scion from the parent tree.
 - Try to keep the diameter of the scion sticks approximately the same as the diameter of the rootstock where the grafting will be made.
 - Trim all the leaves to prevent high evaporation.  When trimming the leaves, be careful not to hit the buds, because the buds are in the axillary.

 * CONNECTION / GRAFTING STAGE
 1. Cut the rootstock at the part of the stem that is not too young and not too old, usually marked with a greenish brown stem color or about 20-30 cm from the base of the stem.
 2. Cut the lower stem about 2-2.5 cm using a knife, cutter or razor blade right in the middle so that both sides are the same.
 3. The entry that is ready to be connected is then slashed on the right and left to form a point like a wedge or letter V, try to cut it once, don't repeat it.
 4. The length of the scion is 10-15 cm and has at least 2 buds.
 5. Insert in the lower part of the stem, try to make the size of the top and bottom stems more or less the same, try to make the connection as tight as possible and there are no cavities.
 6. Then tie the connection, if using ice plastic to tie it, it is pulled first to lengthen then split using a cutter / knife.
 7. Tie the connection using the PE plastic or ice plastic.
 8. Use transparent plastic cover to cover the connection, tie the bottom of the lid, but provide a hole for air circulation.
 9. If the rootstock is planted in a poly bag then place it in the shade that is not exposed to direct sunlight, either under the shade of a tree or a paranet, but don't put it in the house.
